First of all I love to cook. And if you want to make really good custard based ice cream it will take a bit of time and basic cooking skills. I have had this little baby for about a week or so and its wonderful. So far I have made a berry sorbet from some frozen fruit which turned out perfectly. My second attempt at making something was a homemade fresh mint leaf ice cream. I should have refrigerated or frozen the mix for a bit before putting it into the machine because the bowl didn't stay cold enough. It ended up more like a milk shake that had to be frozen for about an hour to be edible by spoon. So word of the wise would be to chill the mix before putting it in the machine. It was a huge hit a dinner I hosted and turned out wonderfully. If you would like to try it you can find it here.
I bought this because of the price, but just love it because of the simplicity of using it! It is contemporary, easy to clean and make wonderful homemade ice cream in thirty minutes!!!
We purchased the Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker about two months ago and have used it three times to make fresh strawberry and peach ice cream. This machine has made absolutely delicious ice cream every time and has been easy, quick, and fun to use and clean up. Our grandson (and the grown-ups as well!) loves the anticipation of eating ice cream as well as watching the ice cream maker churn. Fortunately, we have the freezer space in which to store the interior freezer bowl so it stays adequately cold allowing us to make ice cream at a moment's notice (assuming the ingredients are on hand). We have not yet tried making sorbet or yogurt. There are so many easy recipes in the book which comes with the machine, and we have made other recipes as well with each coming out wonderfully. What I love, too, is experimenting with recipes, using a sugar-substitute or lower fat creams which makes homemade ice cream even more appealing. The moderately-loud sound that emits when the ice cream maker is working is not disturbing but, in fact, just adds to the anticipation of eating a delicious, homemade treat. The only thing I wish is that it made a larger amount because the ice cream just disappears, but this can be surmounted by making the ice cream in advance of when you need it, refreezing it in another freezer-proof container, and making a separate batch. This item makes a wonderful gift to a loved one or newly-married and especially to oneself!
The Cuisinart ice cream maker is our second one so we knew what to expect. It is very simple and easy to use and does make ice cream in approx. 25 min. The larger size makes is very convenient when you have extra guest who also enjoy ice cream! The noise doesn't seem to bother me much but I would also recommend the purchase of an ice cream cookbook or look for recipes on line as the instruction booklet does not provide many recipes. Overall, I am very happy with this product and would purchase it again. During this hot summer we use it at least every week.
I had the smaller Cuisinart but ended up misplacing the stir stick you place in the center. Rather than replace it I thought I would get the 2 quart unit and am glad I did. It works flawless. The ice cream will expand as it gets colder. Let it come out of the top before you turn it off as this will freeze the best. Haven't made sorbet or frozen yogurt but I am sure they will be of equal quality. Just be sure to keep the tub in your freezer for at least 24 hours as any less may not get your mix cold enough to get that good soft ice cream you love.
Absolutely love this product. It is so easy to use and the clean up is easy as well. Only wish I would have bought it earlier. Great product, well made, doesn't take up too much space on my counter top. Other ice cream makers I would never keep out, but this one looks so nice and requires little space I just keep it out. Will be looking at this product again for christmas presents, it's wonderful.
